What Makes Canada Cool?
Shanghai Noon was really shot in Alberta
Films shot in Alberta
Calgary, Alberta - The skilled labour, tax breaks and the spectacular scenery of Alberta have made it a mecca for 'western' film shoots, including the stunt-filled, action-adventure Shanghai Noon, starring Jackie Chan, Owen Wilson and Lucy Lui. The story-line would have you believe it was shot in Nevada, but nope, the setting is really Alberta. Locations included CL Ranch in Calgary, Drumheller and Morley. Want to walk like a cast member? Alberta Boots at 614 10 Ave. SW in Calgary, outfitted the cast for this and other locally-shot famous westerns, including: Legends of the Fall, Texas Rangers and Brokeback Mountain. They custom make and have 12,000 pairs in stock, and lots of stories they could tell, having outfitted everyone from Kevin Costner to Sam Elliot and Brad Pitt.
