Nanaimo, Vancouver Island – See one of the coolest and craziest races in the world – the INTERNATIONAL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP BATHTUB RACE. started as a ‘Centennial Event’ in 1967 with 200 craft starting and 47 completing a 57-km (36-mile) race to Vancouver. Today, the course begins and ends in Nanaimo, with ‘tubbers’ coming from as far as Australia, and spending an estimated minimum of $3000 to create their bathtub boat entries.
