Halifax, Nova Scotia – Every year in early August Halifax hosts street performers from around the world who have provided free entertainment to as many as a half-million people throughout the event. The Halifax International Busker Festival has been one of the largest events of its kind in the world. Mimes, magicians, jugglers, fire-dancers, pavement artists, musicians and puppeteers perform their street theatre at no charge. A hat is passed for contributions at the end of each performance. There’s family-friendly entertainment (interactive village, clowns, face painters) and adult-friendly beer tents. The entertainment starts about noon each day and runs till 10 pm. Where: It all takes place along a one-kilometer stretch of historic Halifax’s downtown waterfront.
