Dawson City, Yukon Territory – By mid-June in the Yukon you can read a book outside at midnight without even a flashlight. Want to be more active? In Dawson there is even a Midnight Sun Golf Tournament. The idea is you tee off at midnight and finish in the morning with a celebratory breakfast of beer and eggs. It’s organized by the local Top of the World Golf Course.
Historic Dawson City was the heart of the Klondike Gold Rush. The town, population today about 1,800, is a National Historic Site. Visitors can pan for gold, visit the cabins of Robert Service and Jack London, gamble at Diamond Tooth Gerties, take a First Nation’s river tour, and enjoy life under the midnight sun.
