
My Big Fat Greek Wedding
Toronto, Ontario – No surprise to the people of Toronto that North America’s largest Greektown wound up being a film location for My Big Fat Greek Wedding. There’s great Greek food here on the Danforth anytime, but if you want immerse yourself in the atmosphere of a big Greek party, the local community really cranks up the fun with the annual Taste of the Danforth festival. For a weekend in early August, the Danforth closes down to traffic and hundreds of thousands of people flood the area for the food and festivities. Over 80 restaurants offer Mediterranean munchies for $1 to $5, and there’s music and a midway. You can even phone Greece for free. Just think of yourself as one of the family. The neighbourhood is easy to reach using the Toronto subway by taking the Bloor line east to Broadview, Chester or Pape stations.
You’ll know when you are there, there are street signs with names written using the Greek alphabet.
