Canada Travel News - Two major awards for Ski Banff - Lake Louise and Sunshine Village

BANFF, Alberta, Canada – Neilson Active Holidays, one of the biggest tour operators in the UK, has awarded Ski Banff – Lake Louise – Sunshine and Sunshine Village their “2006 Best Ski School” and “2006 Responsible Tourism Award” accolades.

Ski Banff – Lake Louise – Sunshine’s ski and snowboard school has been awarded the “Best in Category” Marque of Excellence Award in the category of Best Ski School 2006. Club Ski Snow School ranked first ahead of some of the best ski resorts’ schools in Europe and the United States. Amongst the competitors were Evolution 2 – Val D’isere, Breckenridge Ski & Snowboard School and Winter Park Ski and Snowboard School.

According to Neilson Active Holidays, the Marque of Excellence is their “ultimate accolade for the highest possible standards of quality and service”. Winners are selected through feedback from 90,000 holiday makers and operational departments from across the organization.

Sunshine Village Ski & Snowboard Resort has been awarded the “Responsible Tourism Award” for 2006. This award comes to Sunshine Village for their superb environmental practices that earned them this year’s Silver Eagle Award for excellence in water conservation. This accolade is granted by the National Ski Areas Association which represents 326 resorts across North America.

Neilson Active Holidays, part of the Thomas Cook Group, is deeply committed to environmental issues and launched the Responsible Tourism Award last year. This award “highlights the efforts made by their partners in protecting holiday destinations, their natural environment, traditions and culture.” The winner was selected for their commitment to environmental practices and staff training seminars. A minimum compliance level was set by Neilson and they will continue to work directly with providers and discuss performance and future initiatives.
