Niagara Icewine Takes Centre Stage
Niagara Grape and Wine Festival is hosting a spectacular show with world renowned Ontario Icewine taking centre stage at the 12th Niagara Icewine Festival. Our opening act is the annual Xerox Images of Winter Gala Evening and Silent Auction. Situated in the Penthouse Dining Room of the Sheraton on the Falls Hotel, in Niagara Falls, Ontario, over 30 Ontario wineries will be on hand pouring over 100 of their award winning Icewines, making it Canadas largest public Icewine tasting. Placed conspicuously between the wineries, a dozen food stations offer the finest in Canadian cuisine. With the breathtaking view of the partially frozen Niagara Falls as its backdrop, its no wonder these tickets at $150 CDN. are a holiday favorite.
Weekend one continues with a spectacular Icebar carved from a 7000 lb. block of ice. The Twenty Valley Icebar is 18 feet long, engraved with ornate scenes of Canadiana and is placed right in the centre of Main Street in Jordan Station. The main street is closed for Icewine tasting from over 20 wineries, ice carving demonstrations, food and entertainment.
New to the Niagara Icewine Festival, an Ice Art Exhibit by famed Canadian artist Gordon Halloran. Featured at the 2006 Olympics in Turin with an incredible living art show entitled Pitture Sotto Zero, Gordan Halloran returns to Region he once called home with an exclusive Ice Art Exhibit on display at Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Niagaras famous wine route is prepared to welcome visitors from around the globe for an expanded ten days of tours, tastings, seminars, samplings, food pairings and a few surprises, all placing Icewine in the spotlight.
