Prince Albert, Saskatchewan - "Buried beneath Saskatchewan soil, just an hour from Prince Albert, at Fort à la Corne, is the worlds largest known diamond-bearing kimberlite field", said Saskatchewan's Premier Lorne Calvert in a February 2005 speech to the Empire Club of Canada, "The companies exploring the field, Kensington, DeBeers, Cameco and Shore Gold, estimate that we are looking at 10 billion tonnes of kimberlite, of which 70% are diamond bearing. We have the potential of 100 million carats in the ground." |
