What Makes Canada Cool?
According to Guinness, Toronto has the largest underground shopping complex
- the 27 km/16-mile PATH
Toronto, Ontario - PATH is North America's largest continuous underground pedestrian system, and according to Guinness World Records - the largest underground shopping complex. It doesn't matter if the temperature is below zero, or if the mercury is melting, if you are in the core of downtown Toronto you can move building to building, from the bus terminal just north of the Eaton's Centre down to Union Station and the Convention Centre, without going outside. It can seem a little confusing at first, but once you realize that the colour-coded ceiling signs indicate which direction you're walking and which major buildings you're under, you can make your way along 27 km (16 miles) of PATH between six major hotels (Sheraton, Fairmont, etc), 50 office towers, the Hockey Hall of Fame, Roy Thomson Hall, Air Canada Centre, Rogers Centre, the CN Tower, five subway stations, and between 1200 stores and restaurants.
