Toronto, Ontario -The Old Firehall Theatre at 110 Lombard St opened as Second City Toronto in 1973, and helped launch the careers of young many famous comedians including Canadians Dan Aykroyd, John Candy, Eugene Levy, and Detroit native Gilda Radner. Today the Firehall is one of 20 Gildas Clubs in Canada and the US which provide free social and emotional support in a home-like atmosphere, for anyone touched by cancer (Radner died of ovarian cancer at the age of 42). Gildas Club funding is raised with an annual Its Always Something pre-Christmas variety show and gala, one of Canadas best nights of live entertainment. Top Canadian performers lend their support. 2005 stars included Juno Award-winning Bryan Adams, Sex in the City star Kim Cattrall, Gemini winning actor Eugene Levy, singer songwriter Amanda Marshall, Corner Gas Brent Butt and Canadian Idol Melissa ONeil.
