What Makes Canada Cool?
Famous 'friend' Matthew Perry was raised in Ottawa

Ottawa, Ontario - You might just catch him at an Ottawa Senators game, it's his favorite NHL team and he's been known to attend play-off games. Ottawa-raised Matthew Perry, who achieved fame with his role as Chandler Bing on the hit television sitcom 'Friends', was born in Massachusetts but moved to Ottawa when with his mother when his parents split up, when he was less than a year old. His father, actor John Perry, was best known as the guy from the Old Spice commericals, and his mother, Suzanne, served as press secratary to Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau. Matthew went to Rockcliffe Park Public School and Ashbury College, an Ottawa private boys school. He had his first acting experience in the seventh grade at Ashbury, and he also became one of Canada's top-ranked junior tennis players. When he was 10 his mother married Saskatchewan-born NBC newbroadcaster Keith Morrison. At 15 Mathew moved to L.A. to live with his father and develop his acting career. (Ottawa Webcam).
Where: The Senators play home games at Scotiabank Place, located in what was once the city of Kanata (now a west-end district of Ottawa.) The 20,500 seat arena, formally known as Corel Centre and originally as the Palladium, is also the home of the Ottawa Sports Hall of Fame. It's used for concerts and a variety of entertainment events. Quick Tip: Viist Ottawa during winter hockey months and you can take to the ice yourself on the world's largest skating rink. Come in spring (early May) and you'll see the city burst into bloom: more than three million tulips are planted throughout the Capital Region.
