Halifax, Nova Scotia - Every year in August Halifax hosts street performers from around the world who provide free entertainment to about a half-million people throughout the 11-day International Busker Festival. This is one of the largest events of its kind in the world. Mimes, magicians, jugglers, fire-dancers, pavement artists, musicians and puppeteers perform their street theatre at no charge. A hat is passed for contributions at the end of each performance. There's family-friendly entertainment (interactive village, clowns, face painters) and adult-friendly beer tents. It all takes place along a one-kilometer stretch of historic Halifax's downtown waterfront. The entertainment starts about noon each each and runs till 10 pm.
