Newfoundland and Labrador - The waters east and north of Newfoundland are known as Iceberg Alley because every year the Labrador Current delivers hundreds of the great white giants from the Arctic. Ninety percent of the Icebergs that arrive off of Newfoundland originate from glaciers on the west coast of Greenland; you may even see them as far south as the city of St John's. You can hop on an iceberg boat tour, take an iceberg tour by plane or even view them from shore. The Long Point Lighthouse in Twillingate on Newfoundland’s Notre Dame Bay in Central Newfoundland, is one of the best places in the world for tourists to stand on shore and view them. The best time is late spring through early summer. Whales and seabirds also come near shore in late spring and early summer because of the fish that migrate inshore at that time of year.
