At 18,078 km the Trans Canada Trail will be the longest recreational trail in the world
Hiker Trans Canada Trail
Hike it, bike it, paddle it, ski it, get a horse and ride it – Canada is creating the longest recreational trail in the world. Of the planned 18,078 km, 9000km are operational at this point. When complete, the Trans-Canada Trail's route will link over 800 communities. From Calgary, the proposed route will follow the Bow River west through the foothills to the Rocky Mountains, via Bragg Creek, Bow Valley and Kananaskis Provincial Parks, Canmore and Banff National Park. Banff National Park has 1600 km (1000 miles) of hiking trails that range from an hour to a multi-day backcountry experience.
